5 secrets on how to grow hair longFall in Love With Your Hair: 5 Secrets on How to Grow Hair Long, Shiny and Healthy

We all wish we could have ‘perfect’ hair. For some of us, we are on the never ending quest for secrets on how to grow hair long, our hair is too short, too frizzy or perhaps even too long. Whilst growing the hair you’ve always dreamed of seems like a myth, it isn’t. It’s perfectly possible to grow longer, shinier and healthier hair.

But the question is, how?

Is there a magic pill or potion? I doubt it.

There are however, 5 things you can do to achieve your hair goals.

Tips on How to Grow Hair Long & Strong

Secret #1: Banish comparison syndrome.

We all do this one thing that destroys us most, comparing ourselves to others. Sadly, constantly comparing yourself is detrimental and can lead to low self-esteem, vulnerability and clouded judgment.

Yes, it’s totally normal to acknowledge the appearance of another woman’s hair, but using it as a mechanism for criticizing your own isn’t healthy and will only make you feel worse about yourself.

Secret #2: Stop being a negative nelly.

Many of us have negative, limiting beliefs. These are voices, which tell us that our hair is ‘ugly’, ‘ruined’ and incapable of getting better. These negative voices convince us that we don’t deserve to have the length or strength of hair that we are capable of having. Whenever you hair these negative voices- pause and stop.

Don’t give them any further thought and replace them with positive thoughts or affirmations. For instance, ‘rather than telling yourself that your hair isn’t good enough, swap those negative thoughts with ‘my hair is growing stronger each day.’

If there is ever a tip on how to grow hair long that you decide to follow, this should be it. The mind is the most powerful part of the human makeup, powerful enough to impact hair length and growth.

Secret #3: Get clued up.

Contrary to popular belief, growing gorgeous tresses isn’t rocket science. However, it’s imperative that you learn healthy hair practices that will teach you what to do and what to avoid when it comes to your hair.

It’s therefore essential to educate yourself on the basics. This can mean reading hair and beauty magazines or reading books. For instance, I regularly share hair related advice in my newsletter on how to grow hair long and gorgeous, and subscribers have said several times that it’s really helped them to learn about how to look after their hair.

Step #4: Have clear goals.

Studies show that the average human grows six inches of hair per year. That means in theory that your hair could be six inches longer within the next 12 months. Is that your goal? Do you dream of having a Rapunzel-like mane or would you prefer to have hair that’s medium-length but in great condition?

What’s your goal? There’s no right or wrong answer- it’s totally down to you. Take a moment to write down your personal hair goal and jot down 3 things you’ll do to achieve it.

Will you trim more often, moisturise daily or wear protective hairstyles? Think about what you want for your hair and create a simple yet actionable plan for achieve it.

Step #5: Take action!

On top of learning about hair care, it’s important to not just read the information and then forget about it. It’s essential to take action! Begin implementing what you learn as quickly as possible.

If you’re stuck for time, simply jot down notes in a hair journal and then take 5-10 minutes a day to skim over the notes and tick off the tips you’ve followed during the day. The more you begin implementing healthy hair strategies, the quicker you’ll start to see progress.

Follow these 5 secrets on how to grow hair long and healthy, and you’ll soon start to see not only changes in your hair but also changes in your confidence and self-esteem.

I have extremely dry skin, especially in the winter, and to top it off i was facing the worst breakout i've ever had from a new birth control prescription. Even a couple months after stopping the pills, I was battling my skin. I switched my skincare routine, which helped a good amount with the dryness, but I still had pimples popping up. After using the Asana pills for a WEEK my skin was SO much more clear. I've incorporated flaxseed into my diet to combat male hormones left over from the BC, but these really do work wonders. (At least for my skin type). Definitely recommend at least trying!

  1. Sarah says:

I’m 25 years old and I noticed I have a bald spot in the side of my head. Where does that come from and how do I treat it? I don’t have cancer or aids? Will hair extentions help it grow? Please give me a solution to this problem because I don’t want to hav this bald spot for the rest of my life.

  2. Victoria O says:

Hi Sarah, I’m sorry to hear about your bald spot. Have you worn tight extensions, weaves or braids recently? Bald spots can be caused by a number of things such as stress. I would recommend visiting a trichologist or your GP just to be sure that it’s not medically related.

PS. I’d be happy to give you more advice if you contact me through my website.
